Chatelaine Requirements

POSITION OPEN: Chatelaine of the Barony of Darkwater

The Barony of Darkwater is seeking a successor for the office of Chatelaine. This is a Greater Baronial Officer position and a seat on the Baronial Financial Committee. The incoming Chatelaine must be a paid member of the SCA at the time of appointment and throughout their tenure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chatelaine serves as the welcoming face of the Barony, with duties including newcomer outreach and support, teaching beginner classes at Darkwater events, attending weekly populace meetings, coordinating educational demonstrations, and providing well-rounded support to newcomers and transplants. The office maintains a loaner garb closet (currently 6 bins) and submits quarterly reports to the Kingdom Chatelaine.

The Barony holds two annual demonstrations: the Avian Reconditioning Center (March) and the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire (November), the latter requiring approximately four months of advance planning.

SUPPORT AVAILABLE:

The incoming Chatelaine will inherit an organized Google Drive, email templates, and a Demo in a Box (in progress). The Barony is fortunate to have multiple former baronial and Kingdom Chatelaines active within its borders who are available to offer guidance. The outgoing Chatelaine is also willing to serve as Demo Deputy if desired and will remain available for support at the successor's discretion.

The outgoing Chatelaine will remain in office until a successor is warranted.
