The Barony of Darkwater

Oyez! The Barony of Darkwater is hosting a Summer Scribal Challenge. We are challenging all of the scribes and illuminators with the following competition:

1. From Sat. May 12 Gathering of the Clans until October 4, 2007
2. All scrolls must be original by the entrant only. No joint scrolls will be judged.
3. All scrolls must be completed on Bristol board no larger and 9 X 12 inches. Paper is available through our scribal guild.
4. All illuminating must be done with gouache paint. Paints are available through the scribal guild. Please provide a palette for paints.
5. There will be points awarded for each completed element of an original scroll.
   • 1 point for a completed penciled and inked (black) design
   • 1 point for a completed illuminated design
   • 1 point for a calligraphed scroll for Darkwater awards
6. Each scroll will be judged for the above points
7. Each scroll will also be judged by the populace
8. Each scroll will also be judged by the Excellencies of Darkwater
9. There will be two categories of entry
   • Novice Level (entrant should have never completed a scroll for SCA use)
   • Intermediate Level (entrant will have completed scrolls for Baronial Level awards in the past)
   • Advanced (entrant will have completed scrolls for Kingdom Level awards in the past OR entered a Scroll into an art/sci competition)
10. All scrolls must be turned into Adelheid Leinwater no later than the business meeting on October 4, 2007 to be eligible for judging
11. Winners will be announced at court at Village Faire on Saturday, October 13, 2007.
12. To enter please complete the following form and return it to Adelheid (Cyndi Maners) with your entries. You may enter them as you finish or all at once.
